GreenPower Motor Company produces a complete line of high-floor and low-floor all-electric heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can accommodate various bodies and upfits for a variety of applications. The platform's design is based on a clean paper sheet, which allows for optimum placement of the battery pack and a lower center of gravity. This results in better payload/range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to meet the needs of mid to last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, better temperature control and a longer life. powered mobility scooter REEFERX provides superior capacity for cargo and a payload that is industry-leading to allow for zero emission freight or passenger transport.
GreenPower joined forces with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems, which will allow fleets to move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging up to 75 kW.
We had the opportunity to test the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway, and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can block wind and road noise while driving on the highway. It rides smoothly over ruts and humps. The car's acceleration is surprisingly quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes to enable "one-pedal driving" simply by releasing the accelerator.
The EV9 has a wide range and can be recharged in just three hours or less at home, or using any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two modes of operation including eco mode and sports mode. The eco mode is a preference for the cruise control and torque and the sport mode increases speed and handling. Both are a lot of fun to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for those who have never driven an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower offers several other eVehicles, including a multipurpose all-electric minibus, called the EV Star. conversational tone is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, microtransit and transit vanpools, buses, and paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star busses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 all-electric cars. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify schools across the nation, GreenPower plans on ramping up production to meet demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be Altoona-tested and FMVSS-certified. Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. This makes them eligible for federal transit grants.
